The Nigeria national football team secured a 2-1 victory over the Iran national football team in an international friendly on Friday, with goals from Moses Simon and Akor Adams sealing the win.
Nigeria made a bright start as Simon opened the scoring in the 7th minute, finishing off an assist from Samuel Chukwueze. The Super Eagles extended their lead early in the second half when Adams found the back of the net in the 52nd minute after being set up by Ademola Lookman.
Iran responded in the 67th minute through Mehdi Taremi, but Nigeria held firm to secure the victory.
The friendly forms part of preparations under head coach Eric Chelle, who is using the fixtures to test squad combinations and build cohesion ahead of future competitive matches.
Looking ahead, the Super Eagles will take on the Jordan national football team on March 31 at Mardan Stadyumu in Antalya, Turkey, as part of a four-nation invitational tournament.
Although Nigeria will not feature at the upcoming World Cup, the series of friendlies provides a crucial platform for rebuilding and maintaining momentum. Fans remain optimistic as the team continues to showcase its attacking potential on the international stage.
