Ukraine on Saturday dismissed Iran’s claim that it struck a depot housing Ukrainian anti-drone systems in the UAE, insisting the allegation was false.
Foreign ministry spokesman Georgiy Tykhy said, “This is a lie; we officially refute this information,” adding that Tehran “often conducts such disinformation operations.”
Ukraine has been expanding its anti-drone support to Gulf countries, drawing on experience gained while countering Iranian-designed drones used by Russia.
Tykhy’s remarks followed a statement by Iran’s central military command, Khatam Al-Anbiya, which was aired on state television, claiming it had destroyed a facility in the United Arab Emirates.
“As the hideouts of American commanders and soldiers in Dubai were targeted… a depot of Ukrainian anti-drone systems that was located in Dubai to assist the US military … was targeted and destroyed,” the statement said.
Earlier on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during an unannounced visit to the Gulf, said Kyiv and Abu Dhabi had agreed to deepen defence cooperation.
Qatar later announced a similar agreement with Ukraine, while Ukraine and Saudi Arabia also signed an air defence deal during Zelensky’s visit to the kingdom, according to two senior officials who spoke with AFP on Friday.
Earlier this month, Zelensky disclosed that 201 Ukrainian anti-drone military experts were either in or heading to the Middle East to support the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

The developments come amid ongoing Iranian strikes against Israel and US interests in the Gulf since the conflict began on February 28.
Iran has accused Gulf nations of allowing US forces to launch attacks from their territory, an allegation they have repeatedly denied, maintaining that they would not permit their land or airspace to be used for attacks against Iran.
