The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the fees for aspirants seeking to contest in its 2027 presidential primary, pegging the expression of interest form at N30 million and the nomination form at N70 million.

For governorship hopefuls, the party set the cost at N10 million for the expression of interest form and N40 million for the nomination form, as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.

The details were outlined in a two-page timetable and schedule of activities released on Saturday and signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaimon Arugungu.

According to the document, senatorial aspirants are to pay N3 million for the expression of interest form and N17 million for the nomination form, while those seeking seats in the House of Representatives will pay N1 million and N9 million, respectively.

For House of Assembly positions, aspirants are required to pay N1 million for the expression of interest form and N4 million for the nomination form.

The party also unveiled its timetable for the primaries, with the sale of forms scheduled to run from April 25 to May 2, 2026, at the national secretariat, and submission of completed forms fixed for May 4, 2026.

Primary elections are slated as follows: House of Assembly on May 16, governorship on May 18, House of Representatives on May 20, and Senate on May 22, 2026. Appeals for the primaries will hold on May 24 for House of Assembly and May 25 for governorship, House of Representatives, and Senate contests.

Reacting to the fees, political analyst Omenazu Jackson criticised the move, arguing that it reflects the monetisation of politics and limits participation to only wealthy individuals.

Similarly, Kamilu Fage described the development as undemocratic, saying it tilts the political process in favour of the rich and undermines inclusive participation in governance.

Critics warned that such high costs could discourage capable candidates without financial backing and further entrench money-driven politics in the country.
