VIDEO: NOTORIOUS CULT FIGURE “AGALI” SHOT DEAD IN SURULERE AS POLICE LAUNCH INVESTIGATION

Residents of Iponri in Surulere, Lagos, were thrown into panic late Saturday night following the fatal shooting of a prominent figure identified as Adedipe Adeyinkan, popularly known as “Agali.”
Agali, reportedly a leading and highly influential member of the Buccaneers (BAN) cult group in the Surulere area, was attacked around 11:30 p.m. on April 11, 2026, along the National Stadium Bridge inward Iponri. He was said to have been shot while driving and was immediately rushed to Mainland General Hospital in Yaba, where he was later confirmed dead.
Described by some locals as both influential and feared, Agali was known within the Shitta/Akere axis and was believed to have connections with political figures. Reports suggest that prior to his death, he was allegedly backing a female candidate in the upcoming elections, placing him in opposition to a more popular incumbent within the same political party.
While members of the Buccaneers group have reportedly blamed a rival cult faction for the attack, speculation continues to grow that the killing may have political undertones.
The incident has heightened tensions in the area, with fears of possible retaliatory actions. Residents reported a heavy security presence on Sunday morning, with multiple police vehicles deployed across Iponri and surrounding areas to maintain order.
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the killing.
Authorities have urged residents to remain calm and vigilant as efforts continue to prevent any escalation of violence.
