ANAMBRA: PREGNANT WOMAN DIES WHILE FLEEING COW DURING BURIAL EVENT

A heavily pregnant woman has died in Anambra State after falling while attempting to escape a stray cow during a burial ceremony.
The incident occurred in Oba community, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
The victim, identified as Omalicha, reportedly fell while fleeing from the cow, which had become loose during the event.
According to the MEDIA, the animal suddenly went out of control, sparking panic as attendees scattered in different directions to avoid being injured.
In the ensuing confusion, the pregnant woman tried to flee the area but fell and died as a result.
The incident was shared on Facebook on Saturday, April 18, 2026, by her friend, Chinazor Peace Anyadiegwu, who said she had seen the deceased just hours earlier while she was with her children.
Anyadiegwu described the news as shocking, noting that the burial ceremony turned chaotic when the cow broke loose, forcing attendees to run for safety.
She added that the fatal fall happened during the panic as people scrambled to escape.
The tragedy has left the community in shock, with sympathisers continuing to visit and console the bereaved family.
