The management of Lagos State University and the newly established Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe have jointly dismissed reports alleging that the LASU Epe Campus has been converted into a federal university.

In a statement released on Tuesday and jointly signed by LASU Registrar Emmanuel Fanu and FUSTECH Epe Registrar Kabiru Okugbesan, both institutions described the circulating claims as false and misleading.

The statement clarified: “This information is false. The LASU Epe Campus remains a fully functional campus of Lagos State University.”

It further noted that the Epe Campus continues to host several academic units, including the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, School of Agriculture, as well as pre-degree and sandwich degree programmes, alongside other research centres.

The university stressed that its operations at the campus remain intact and unchanged despite recent misinformation circulating online.

The institutions confirmed that FUSTECH Epe is a newly established federal university and is currently sharing LASU facilities on an interim basis.

They explained, “LASU, in the spirit of collaboration and partnership, has agreed to share some of its facilities and infrastructure at the Epe campus on an interim basis to support FUSTECH’s smooth take-off.”

However, both universities maintained that they remain separate entities with distinct governance structures and academic systems. The arrangement, they noted, will continue temporarily pending FUSTECH’s relocation to its permanent site.

The statement urged members of the public, parents, and prospective students to disregard the false claims and rely only on official communications from both institutions.

“Please note that Lagos State University, Epe Campus, has not been converted into Federal University of Science and Technology, Epe,” the statement emphasised.

Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to academic excellence and proper communication with stakeholders.
