Bayo Adelabu is expected to resign from his position in the coming days as he prepares to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.

According to Tunji Bolaji, the minister’s special adviser on strategic communications and media relations, Adelabu informed President Bola Tinubu of his planned resignation during a meeting on Tuesday and received the president’s approval and blessings.

Bolaji stated that Adelabu’s exit is imminent, noting that the decision reflects his intention to focus on his governorship ambition.

He added that the timing of the resignation is aimed at ensuring continuity in ongoing reforms within the power sector, including efforts to address recent challenges such as reduced power generation caused by gas supply constraints, pipeline maintenance, and outstanding obligations to gas suppliers.
