A former Chairman of Imeko-Afon Local Government, Tosin Adeluyi, has announced his intention to contest for the Imeko-Afon State Constituency seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
In a statement released on Thursday, Adeluyi made the declaration during a strategic meeting with stakeholders held at his residence in Ilara, Ogun State, on Saturday.
He said his decision was motivated by the need to promote fairness in the local political arrangement, noting that Zone 3 of Imeko-Afon Local Government has been without representation in major political offices for the past eight years.
Adeluyi explained that his ambition followed extensive consultations and a strong commitment to serve with integrity, competence, and tangible results.
He highlighted the lack of representation for Zone 3, which comprises three wards, describing it as a critical imbalance that needs to be addressed.
Unveiling his agenda, tagged ‘Projecting Advancement for Tomorrow,’ he said his focus would be on sustainable development, grassroots participation, and inclusive governance.
He called for a fair zoning arrangement that would allow Zone 3 to produce the next representative, stressing that such a move would promote unity and a sense of belonging across the constituency.
“In the interest of equity and justice, I urge that this opportunity be given to Zone 3 to ensure balance and strengthen cohesion,” he said.
Adeluyi assured constituents of effective and equitable representation if elected.
The statement added that stakeholders at the meeting expressed their support for his ambition and pledged to back his bid for the APC ticket.
