KATSINA POLICE FOIL KIDNAP ATTEMPT, RESCUE 18-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN DANMUSA

The Katsina State Police Command has foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued an 18-year-old girl abducted by suspected armed bandits in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.
The Command confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday by its Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Aliyu.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on Tuesday at about 11:53 p.m. when suspected bandits invaded Kukoki Quarters in Danmusa Town and abducted the victim, identified as Aisha Kabir.
The police said swift intervention by operatives led to the rescue of the victim after a distress call was received.
Aliyu explained that the Divisional Police Officer in Danmusa immediately mobilised an Armoured Personnel Carrier tactical patrol team in response to the report.
He said the operatives trailed the attackers and engaged them in a gun duel, overpowering them and forcing them to abandon the victim while fleeing with suspected gunshot injuries.
Following the encounter, the victim was rescued and taken to a hospital for medical evaluation before being reunited with her family.
The Command added that bush-combing operations were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, commended the officers involved for their swift response and professionalism, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.
He also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations.
