VIDEO: FATAL TANKER–TRICYCLE COLLISION DISRUPTS MOVEMENT AT OKE ADO MARKET, IBADAN

By: Muftau Fatimo
The situation at Oke Ado Market remains tense following a fatal accident involving a fully loaded fuel tanker and a commercial tricycle (Keke Marwa) earlier today.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the tricycle operator died instantly at the scene, leaving bystanders in shock. Emergency responders, including firefighters, have since been deployed and are on standby due to the high risk of fire or explosion posed by the fuel-laden tanker.
Traffic management authorities have partially cordoned off the affected section of the road to secure the area and facilitate emergency operations, resulting in significant traffic congestion. Motorists heading toward Oke Ado have been advised to seek alternative routes.
Meanwhile, members of the Tricycle Operators Association have reportedly prevented officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps and recovery teams from evacuating the wreckage. The group is said to be demanding a formal compensation arrangement for the family of the deceased before allowing any removal of vehicles.
Authorities have also cautioned the public against gathering at the scene, stressing that the presence of a fully loaded tanker poses a serious safety hazard and urging residents to allow emergency personnel to carry out their duties without obstruction.
