YAHAYA BELLO’S NEPHEW AND OTHERS’ N3BN FRAUD TRIAL POSTPONED TILL APRIL 16

On Monday, the Federal High Court in Abuja adjourned the N3 billion fraud trial of Ali Bello, the nephew of Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, and three others to April 16.
After ruling on the defendants’ bail applications, Judge Obiora Egwuatu delayed the case’s hearing.
The accused were granted bail in the amount of N500 million apiece, with two sureties in the same amount.
The sureties must live in Abuja, have recognizable addresses, and hold landed property worth N500 million within the court’s jurisdiction.
They must also show proof of tax payments from 2020 to 20222 and deposit the original title documents for the property with the Registrar of the Court.
Furthermore, the defendants must submit their foreign passports with the court and get court permission to travel outside the jurisdiction.
On February 8, Bello was charged alongside Abba Adauda, Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege, Iyadai Sadat, and Rashida Bello (at large) by the EFCC on 18 counts of criminal embezzlement and money laundering totaling N3,081,804,654.00 (Three Billion, Eighty One Million, Eight Hundred and Four Thousand, Six Hundred and Fifty Four Naira).
