The 2022/23 season of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) officially commenced with a flag-off match in Uyo between Akwa United and Bendel Insurance on January 8. Thereafter, other fixtures continued on January 15 and 16 with teams grouped in two to achieve the abridged format adopted by the Interim Management Committee (IMC) aiming to align with International football calendar.
