SECURITY: UNDER MR. PRESIDENT’S WATCH, A REFORM WILL START – MINISTER OF STATE FOR POLICE AFFAIRS
By Aishat Momoh. O.
The Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Police Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim has assured that under the administration of President Bola Tinubu, the long-awaited reforms on policing in Nigeria will be implemented.
The minister gave the assurance on Tuesday during her visit to the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja on Tuesday evening.
While speaking during the visit, she mentioned that since the advent of the democratic governance in 1999, Nigeria has witnessed eight attempts at reforming its police force which regrettably, none of these reform papers have seen satisfactory implementation.
She added that with the renewed commitment of the president, there will be a tangible change, while explaining that the force is not just an ambition but a shared responsibility.
“I believe that a reformed police force will not only ensure the safety and security of citizens but will also serve as a linchpin for the overall improvement of our Country’s economy,” she said.
Imaan however, commended the dedication and diligence exhibited by the men of the Nigerian Police Force in maintaining peace and orderliness in the state.
