TOTTENHAM 3-1 BOURNEMOUTH: SPURS CLOSE TOP-FOUR GAP WITH VICTORY OVER BOURNEMOUTH
By Sefiu Ajape
After defeating Bournemouth on Sunday, Ange Postecoglou’s team closed the gap on rivals Arsenal in the Premier League standings to just one point.
Postecoglou’s team did not waste any time in taking the lead on Saturday, as Pape Matar Sarr gave the home team the lead after just nine minutes, despite their recent struggles in the early part of the season.
Despite leading the first forty-five minutes, Spurs suffered a setback just before halftime when Sarr was forced off due to injury and replaced by Oliver Skipp.
The 21-year-old was clearly upset as he left the field because the injury could potentially prevent him from playing for Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations, which begins next month.
Both teams had opportunities in the second half, but Son Heung-min and Richarlison’s goals would give Spurs the advantage.
The visitors responded through Alex Scott but Spurs held on for three points.
