SOKOTO RERUN: PDP CANDIDATE EMERGE WINNER OF YABO/SHAGARI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY
The Peoples Democratic Party’s Umar Yusuf has been proclaimed the winner of the rerun election for the Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Abubakar Abdullahi-Bagudo, having certified the necessary documents declared Yusuf of the PDP winner of the Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency Rerun Election.
Yusuf defeated his rival Abubakar Umar of the All Progressives Congress despite scoring fewer votes, 2249 votes, in the rerun election compared to APC candidate Abubakar Umar, who scored a total of 3741 votes.
Meanwhile, the PDP candidate had led the APC candidate in the substantive election with a total votes of 24,792 against 22,472.
Yusuf was, however, declared the winner after scoring a total of 27,042 votes, while the APC candidate scored a total of 25,738 votes.
