HUNTERS NEUTRALISE BANDIT, RECOVER 74 COWS IN KEBBI
Hunters in Kebbi have neutralized one suspected bandit and recovered 74 stolen cows being herded into the Niger Republic.
The state Commander of Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, Musa Hussaini-Rambo, who revealed this to newsmen on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi, said the incident occurred at JarKuka in Bachaka ward of Arewa Local Government Area.
He said the stolen cattle have been handed over to relevant authorities for onward delivery to their owners.
According to him, the hunters have also arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of armoured cables.
He explained that one of the suspects specialises in vandalism and theft of armoured cables while the other buys the stolen items at N5000 per kilogramme.
The commander said the two were arrested in the Gwadangwaji area of Birnin Kebbi.
“We are going to hand them over to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps for further investigation and prosecution,” he said.
Hussaini-Rambo restated the determination of the hunters to complement security agencies in the fight against crimes, especially in forests across the state.
