TURKISH GIANTS, GALATASARAY, BESIKTAS, FENERBACHE RENEW INTEREST IN IHEANACHO
Turkish clubs Galatasaray, Besiktas, Fenerbahce SK, and Trabzonspor are once again vying for the signature of Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian international first caught the eye of Turkish clubs during the 2023 Summer transfer window following Leicester City’s relegation to the EFL Championship.
Despite the interest, Iheanacho remained with the East Midlands side until the end of his contract, with Leicester City coach Enzo Maresca indicating that discussions about the future of players whose contracts are due to expire would be delayed until the end of the season.
“At this moment the focus is on the final target for this season,
“If the players who are going to finish with us this season are happy to continue together, good. If we or they are not happy, each one is going to take his decision. We will see.’’ Maresca said as quoted by Leicester Mercury.
With Leicester City’s hopes of an immediate return to the Premier League diminished after a defeat to Plymouth Argyle, Iheanacho’s potential departure from the King Power Stadium on a free transfer looms larger.
Trabzonspor, in particular, has mentioned Iheanacho as a priority signing following Alexander Sörloth’s departure, potentially teaming him up with compatriot Paul Onuachu, who is also seeking to stay in Trabzon for another season-long loan.
