NPFL PLANS TO REVIEW PLAYERS SALARY STRUCTURE
The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, has revealed plans to upgrade the minimum wage of players in the league from N150,000 to an undisclosed amount.
NPFL Chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye pointed out that the current economic situation in Nigeria demands a review of the players’ wages.
He reiterated the NPFL’s commitment to the players’ welfare, expressing disappointment that some clubs still pay lower than the N150,000 minimum wage benchmark.

“The least NPFL players can earn is N150, 000, by next season, we will upgrade it because even N150,000, we discovered that some clubs are paying below it. Some players accept it just to join such clubs,” he stated.
“That is why compiling your account now is part of our clubs’ licensing.
“We want to see where and what you are paying each player and it has to be through banks.”
