FOOD SECURITY: WE’LL NOT EVICT INDIVIDUALS FARMING ON GOVT LANDS – NIGER GOV, BAGO
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, has reassured residents farming on uncultivated government lands that they will not be evicted from such lands as part of efforts to ensure food security in the state.
Bago stated this while inspecting government lands along Mokwa road, which were either uncultivated or abandoned in Mokwa, Mokwa local government.
He explained that his administration is committed to executing its food security agenda with determination hence all government-owned lands must be utilised for farming.
According to him, “people farming on government lands will not face eviction, instead, they will receive additional support. All government lands will be cultivated,”
“Individuals farming on government lands will not be evicted. For instance, if you are farming on one hectare of land, the government will allocate 10 hectares for you”
“The Governor added, “The government will provide seedlings and fertilizers for free and all are geared towards achieving sustainable agricultural development,” Bago promised.
