2026 WCQ: FINIDI SEEKS TOTAL COMMITMENT FROM S’EAGLES PLAYERS
By Ajape Sefiu A.
Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Finidi George, has demanded total commitment from his players as they aim to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, introduced 53-year-old Finidi to the media on Monday.
He signed a one-year contract with a one-year extension option.
The head coach’s first task is to guarantee the Super Eagles a spot in the 2026 World Cup finals.
Next month, the Super Eagles will take on South Africa and Benin in a make or mar qualifiers.
The West Africans are winless in Group C after recording draws in their opening two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
“Nigeria comes first, that’s what I expect from every player I invite,” he said at the media briefing.
“You have to play as you play in your clubs and you must have commitment.
“The first targets are to qualify for the World Cup and AFCON and a win over South Africa will set the tone.”
