REPS CAUTION PUBLIC OFFICIALS AGAINST IGNORING PARLIAMENTARY INVITES
Government representatives have been cautioned not to disregard parliamentary invitations by the Honorable Unyime Idem, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement.
During a public hearing on a measure to modify the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management Act of 2007, a warning was given on Monday.
He states that the committee will not think twice about using its legislative authority to prosecute violators.
According to the committee, the purpose of the bill is to maintain the institutional and legal framework established by the Public Procurement Act of 2007 for the enthronement of accountability, transparency, value for money, and efficiency in the procurement of works, goods, and services within Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and Parastatals.
