PROTESTS: CDS WARNS PROTESTERS AGAINST VIOLENCE
Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), stated on Friday that the Nigerian army will intervene if the current protests intensify.
Musa made this remark while responding to journalistsā questions about the extent of violence observed in the country so far.
Since yesterday, Nigerians have been protesting against hardship, hunger, and other socio-economic issues in the country.
On Thursday, taking advantage of the situation, hoodlums hijacked the protest to vandalize and loot properties.
In response to this, Musa stated that the military is on alert and ready to take action if the protests escalate.
It should be noted that the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has praised the National Council for Civil Society of Nigeria for not participating in the ongoing protests.
He emphasized President Bola Ahmed Tinubuās numerous initiatives aimed at revitalizing the economy for the benefit of all Nigerians.
āHe is just one year in office and he has done very well and I know that with these initiatives, we will soon start to see the positive results.ā
