PARIS 2024 WOMEN’S WRESTLING: OBORUDUDU BEATS CANADIAN OPPONENT TO REACH Q/FINAL
Blessing Oborududu commenced her quest for a medal in women’s Wrestling 68kg at the Paris Olympic Games after defeating her Canadian opponent Linda Morais to reach the quarterfinals.
Oborududu had a scare in the early part of her bout as she conceded two points in the first three minutes.
But she stormed back in second half to score six consecutive points, going on to win the match 8-2 on points.
Up next for Oborududu is a quarter-final clash with France’s Koumba Larroque.
Oborududu won the silver medal in the women’s freestyle 68 kg after losing to America’s Tamyra Mensah-Stock 4–1 at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
She also became the first Nigerian to win an Olympic medal in wrestling.
