POLICE ARREST DRIVER WHO STOLE HIS BOSS’ VEHICLE IN LEKKI
A 27-Year-Old Driver, Aliyu Mohammed, from Bida, Bida Local Government Area of Niger State, was arrested in Minna for allegedly stealing his boss’ Toyota Highlander with registration number LSR 102 GU from Lekki, Lagos.
Niger State Police Command Public Relations Officer SP Wasiu Abiodun disclosed that Mohammed was caught following a tip-off.
He explained that during interrogation, Mohammed confessed to stealing the vehicle after driving his boss to the airport. He lied to his boss that he was robbed on the Third Mainland Bridge to cover his tracks.
Mohammed claimed he wanted to sell the vehicle in Kaduna to fund his football academy dreams in Abuja, despite earning N70,000 monthly.
According to him: ” He (Mohammed) claimed that he had been working with the victim for over three years and he’s being paid seventy thousand naira as a monthly salary, yet he was not satisfied.
“He said he needed money to join a football academy in Abuja, hence his reason for stealing the vehicle.”
The suspect is currently under investigation at the TST unit of the command.
