Read Time:1 Minute, 8 Second

Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, cast his ballot in the current local government election at Polling Unit 002, Ita Osanyin, Iperu Ward 3 in the state’s Ikenne Local Government Area on Saturday at approximately 11:24 a.m.

After casting his ballot, Abiodun spoke to reporters and praised the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission for being ready to make sure the election went well.

Although there were minor logistical issues, the governor claimed that everything has been worked out and that election supplies have been delivered to every part of the state.

“Let me first appreciate the OGSIEC for their level of preparedness and diligence to conduct free, fair, and credible polls.

“However, in any election, we can not rule out some logistics hiccups but by and large I have been informed that as of now, the election materials have reached every nook and cranny of the state and voting has commenced in earnest,” Abiodun explained.

He also praised the voter turnout for the exercise, stating that it shows people’s trust and assurance that their voting choices will match the outcome.

However, in order to avoid misleading the people at large, the governor has urged the media to report with objectivity.

Abiodun stated that the elections had generally been rather calm and commended the law enforcement organizations for maintaining law and order.
