KADUNA: GOV UBA SANI SIGNS 2025 BUDGET INTO LAW
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has officially signed the 2025 budget into law.
The budget, titled “Sustaining Transformation and Inclusive Development,” was passed into law ten days after presenting the draft to the State House of Assembly.
The total budget is N790,439,580,083, with N551,582,867,194 allocated for capital expenditure and N238,856,712,888.86 for recurrent expenditure.
Sani, who signed the budget on Monday, praised the Kaduna State House of Assembly for passing the 2025 budget so quickly and pointed out that all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) had been asked to present their budget defenses in lengthy sessions.
The governor expressed pride in the collaborative efforts between the executive and legislative arms in the state, saying, “Here in Kaduna State, I can say without fear of contradiction that we have the best House of Assembly in the country. Despite the political divide between APC and PDP members, they have focused on governance rather than politics. For me, this is highly commendable.”
He said that lawmakers passed the appropriation measure in ten days, making the budget defense one of the most comprehensive in the state’s history.
He also called the Assembly the best State Assembly in the nation, praising it for its many bills and motions.
No one can give the lawmakers more credit than he can, he claimed, as a former senator who sponsored more than 32 measures, the most of any senator in the last Senate.
Yusuf Liman, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, called the signing of the 2025 budget a significant turning point.
Liman praised the governor’s tight collaboration with the Assembly and underlined the administration’s commitment to fostering an atmosphere that supports state-wide development initiatives.
The Speaker also praised the governor’s dedication to starting new initiatives and finishing others that have been put on hold, especially in rural development.
He emphasized the administration’s emphasis on agricultural and human capital development, noting that the sector’s share of the budget had grown from 7% in the present year to 9.5% in 2025.
He was pleased to see that 42% of the state’s GDP comes from agriculture and expressed confidence that this percentage will continue to rise in the upcoming year.
