TENSION IN OSUN AS APC MEMBERS TRY TO TAKE OVER LG SECRETARIAT

Officials elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the October 15, 2022, Local Government elections in Osun State resumed work at the Boripe Local Government Secretariat in Iragbiji on Monday.
However, tensions arose when APC members attempted to take control of the Olorunda Local Government Secretariat in Igbona, Osogbo, but were resisted by local forces.
When our correspondent arrived at the Olorunda LGA secretariat around 9:20 am, armed police officers were stationed at the junction leading to the area.
Several APC members gathered at the entrance of the secretariat, but they were chased away.
NSCDC personnel and members of the Amotekun Corps were present, working to calm down agitated PDP members who had gathered at the entrance to the secretariat.
The gate was locked, and no one was permitted entry.

Two individuals suspected of recording the events from a building across from the secretariat were assaulted, and their phones were damaged.
Hoodlums, armed with various charms, were also seen attacking those filming the situation with mobile phones.
Addressing the PDP members near the secretariat, Osun State Commissioner for Rural Development, Mr. Gani Olaoluwa, urged them to maintain peace.
“We thank you for heeding our call. We won’t allow any illegal takeover here. No court judgement restored them here”, Olaoluwa said.
