AC MILAN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE HOPES END AFTER 1-1 DRAW WITH FEYENOORD
AC Milan’s Champions League campaign came to a frustrating conclusion as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Feyenoord at the San Siro, which handed the Dutch side a 2-1 aggregate victory in their knockout round play-off.
Milan made a strong start to the match, taking the lead in the 1st minute with Santiago Giménez scoring from a Malick Thiaw assist. However, their early advantage was short-lived as Feyenoord’s well-organized defense thwarted Milan’s attempts to build on their lead.
The game shifted in the 51st minute when Milan’s Theo Hernández was shown a second yellow card, leaving the hosts a man down for the remainder of the match.
Taking full advantage of the numerical imbalance, Feyenoord leveled the score in the 73rd minute with Julián Carranza converting an assist from H. Bueno.
The match saw several yellow cards issued, with Jakub Moder (22’), João Félix (76’), and J. Mitchell (90+3’) all booked. Rafael Leão also received a yellow card during stoppage time (90+7’), while Feyenoord’s G. Read was shown a red card in the final moments of the game.
Despite Milan’s efforts to regain control, the 1-1 draw was not enough to overcome their first-leg deficit, sending Feyenoord through to the next round and leaving AC Milan eliminated from the competition.
