
MAN ALLEGEDLY KILLS MOTHER WITH PESTLE IN BAUCHI
A 20-year-old man has allegedly killed his mother with a pestle in Bauchi State.
The suspect, Safiyanu Dalhatu, was arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly beating his 40-year-old mother, Salma Abdullahi to Death with a pestle.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Wakili, the incident was reported to A’ Divisional Police Headquarters on February 24, 2025 by the Peace and Security Committee members in the Abujan Kwata area of Bauchi.
“Safiyanu Dalhatu is accused of attacking Salma Abdullahi with a heavy pestle, resulting in fractures to both of her hands as well as other bodily injuries,” Wakili said.
The police explained that it swung into action immediately upon receipt of the report.
“The Divisional Police Officer, CSP Abdullahi Muazu, promptly led a team of detectives to the scene and subsequently transported the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi for medical attention. Unfortunately, a medical professional later confirmed her death,” the statement read.
Investigation has commenced into the Incident and the pestle used in the incident has been recovered as exhibits.
“Initial investigations suggest that the altercation between the suspect and his biological mother precipitated the assault.”
The investigation is being led by the Criminal Investigation Department as directed by the Commissioner of Police CP Auwal Musa Muhammad. Upon the completion of the investigation, the suspect will be prosecuted in a court of law.
