Gov. Fayose condemns act, says Gov. Yari’s statement vindicates him on $1bn ECA withdrawal
THE EKITI STATE GOVERNOR, AYODELE FAYOSE, SAYS THE CLAIM BY THE ZAMFARA STATE GOVERNOR, ABDULAZIZ YARI, THAT SECURITY AGENCIES FAILED TO RESPOND TO THE ALERT GIVEN THEM TO PREVENT THE MASSACRE OF PEOPLE IN ZAMFARA HAS JUSTIFIED HIS STANCE THAT NO EXTRA ONE BILLION DOLLAR IS NEEDED TO BE DEDUCTED FROM THE EXCESS CRUDE OIL ACCOUNT TO FUND THE FIGHT AGAINST INSURGENCY.
THE GOVERNOR, WHO STATED THIS IN ADO-EKITI, THE EKITI STATE CAPITAL, SAID THE HUGE FUNDS BUDGETED AND BEING SPENT ON SECURITY SEEMED NOT WELL USED, AND IF SECURITY AGENCIES WERE NOT PROPERLY UTILISING THE FUNDS GIVEN THEM, “WHY GIVING THEM MORE.”
HE NOTED THAT IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT WITH SIMILAR NONCHALANT ATTITUDE OF THE SECURITY AGENCIES IN BENUE AND TARABA STATES, GOVERNOR YARI, THE CHAIRMAN OF THE NIGERIAN GOVERNORS’ FORUM CHAMPIONING THE WITHDRAWAL OF THE ONE BILLION DOLLARS FROM EXCESS CRUDE ACCOUNT TO FIGHT, SAID HE ALERTED SECURITY AGENCIES OVER TWENTY-FOUR HOURS BEFORE THE NEEDLESS KILLINGS IN HIS STATE, IN WHICH THEY FAILED TO RISE TO THE OCCASION.
GOVERNOR FAYOSE ALSO CHALLENGED THE PRESIDENT BUHARI TO TELL NIGERIANS HOW MANY CULPRITS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED OR PROSECUTED WHILE HE FAULTED THE APC GOVERNMENT OF CLAIMING GLORY FOR PROJECTS AND POLICIES PUT IN PLACE BY THE PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATION OF PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN, ESPECIALLY THE MADE IN NIGERIA AIRFORCE UNMANNED VEHICLE THAT THE FORMER PRESIDENT LAUNCHED IN 2013, IN WHICH PRESIDENT BUHARI PUBLICLY RELAUNCHED DAYS AGO IN KADUNA.
