ARMY, DSS UNCOVER GUNRUNNING SYNDICATE IN TARABA, RECOVER CACHE OF ARMS

The operation took place near the Ambassador Roundabout in Wukari Local Government Area of the state.
Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with Department of State Services (DSS) operatives, have arrested a suspected high-profile gunrunner in Taraba State.
The operation, conducted around the Ambassador Roundabout in Wukari Local Government Area, resulted in the arrest of 29-year-old Bulyami Shuaib, a native of Belango Village in Karim Lamido Local Government Area.
According to a press statement by Umar Muhammad, Public Relations Officer of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, the suspect is believed to be a major figure in arms trafficking within the region.
Items recovered from him include 362 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one round of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, ₦842,100 in cash, a black Jing Cheng motorcycle, a Redmi Android phone, an itel phone, two silver rings, and a First Bank ATM card.
The suspect is currently in custody and is cooperating with security agencies, providing vital information to aid ongoing investigations and future operations.
Commending the troops for the successful mission, Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, reiterated the Army’s unwavering resolve, in collaboration with other security agencies, to eliminate criminal elements threatening peace and safety in Taraba State and its environs.
He also urged the public to continue supporting security agencies by offering timely and credible information to help maintain peace and security across the state.
