TINUBU PRESIDES OVER FEC, SWEARS IN SOUTH-EAST REP TO NASS COMMISSION
BY OWOLAB OLUWADARA
President Bola Tinubu has officially inaugurated Uzor Kalu as a commissioner of the National Assembly Service Commission, representing the South East region.
Kalu took the oath of office and allegiance at 2 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja, on Thursday, just prior to the commencement of the Federal Executive Council meeting.
His confirmation by the Senate on May 20 followed the acceptance of the Establishment and Public Service Committee’s report, with the Upper Chamber acknowledging that an earlier petition concerning his nomination had been reviewed and subsequently dismissed by the Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions Committee.
He joins the newly appointed group of commissioners sworn in at the State House for a renewable term of five years, concluding on May 5, 2025.
Kalu, the junior sibling of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the former governor of Abia State, is a past two-term representative for Aba North/Aba South in the House of Representatives (5th and 6th National Assemblies).

The council further observed a moment of silence in tribute to former Minister of Police Affairs, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade, who passed away on May 11, 2025, at the age of 70.
Subsequently, the council moved into a private session.
