The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four members of a suspected syndicate accused of defrauding more than 100 victims of over N500 million under the guise of securing Canadian and Australian work visas.

Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, confirmed the arrest to journalists on Monday, disclosing that operatives of the Ago-Okota Division first apprehended the suspects aged 23, 25, 27, and 36 on July 16.

He said the case was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), where detectives uncovered that the suspects, all staff of an educational consultancy, had allegedly orchestrated the massive scam.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects fraudulently obtained over N500 million from more than 100 victims under the false pretence of facilitating Canadian and Australian work visas,” Jimoh stated.

He added that the suspects remain in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. Efforts are underway to track down other members of the syndicate still at large.
