The number of players in the Super Eagles’ camp has risen to 13 as Nigeria intensifies preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures against Rwanda and South Africa.

Team media officer, Promise Efoghe, confirmed on Tuesday that nine more players arrived at the camp in Ikot Ekpene, joining the four who had checked in on Monday.

The latest arrivals are Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Ola Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Moses Simon, Chidozie Awaziem, Adebayo Adeleye, and Benjamin Fredericks. They joined William Troost-Ekong, Amas Obasogie, Felix Agu, and Raphael Onyedika.

Efoghe said the squad is still awaiting 10 players out of the 23 invited for the double-header. “A total of 13 players are currently in camp, and we are expecting the rest of the squad to arrive later today and early tomorrow,” he told the News Agency of Nigeria.

He also announced the team’s media schedule, including a press conference with the coaching crew and selected players on Wednesday at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo. A pre-match press conference will hold on Friday, while the first 15 minutes of training will be open to the media.

Expected players include goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali; defender Bruno Onyemaechi; midfielders Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka; and forwards Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Cyriel Dessers, Christantus Uche, and Tolu Arokodare.

Nigeria will host Rwanda on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo before traveling to Bloemfontein to face South Africa on Monday.

The Super Eagles currently occupy third place in Group C with two points from two matches, trailing leaders South Africa and Rwanda, who both have four points. Only the top team in each group qualifies automatically for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
