CUSTOMS RECRUITMENT PRE-TEST: FRUSTRATED APPLICANTS BLAST GLITCHY WEBSITE AS NCS BLAMES ‘HIGH TRAFFIC’
By: Sefiu Ajape
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Superintendent Cadre pre-test exercise turned chaotic on Monday as thousands of applicants struggled to access the recruitment portal, sparking a wave of angry reactions on X (formerly Twitter).
Many applicants complained that the website either refused to load, froze midway, or failed to process submissions — leaving them stranded after hours of effort.
An X user, @Ajeh_ fumed: “You guys need to do better whenever you ppl want to start this pre test. How do you guys make up for the pre test.”
Another user, @bhawasee, lamented: “I’m done with the test, to submit is the problem now.”
For @Shadee_bankx_, the crash was predictable. “At least you should know your server wouldn’t contain such number. Secondly you would have just scheduled different dates with a specific number, it would have eased the traffic congestion.”
Some called for an outright reschedule. @ItsMustaph wrote: “Something that we are trying for almost 2 and half hour, you still say we should try. Just reschedule for tomorrow if possible.”
Similarly, @KadsonABDSM advised: “Maybe the management should reschedule another date for the exams when everything is properly fixed thank you.”
Others simply begged for a fix. @hi_Lawal pleaded: “Please kindly restore the network issue, people are trying tirelessly to see they accomplish the test task but the matter is somehow escalating.”
Reacting to the backlash, the Nigeria Customs Service admitted that its portal was overwhelmed.
“The service is aware of the current issue with the site; we’re actively experiencing high traffic which may cause temporary inaccessibility. Kindly keep trying while our team works tirelessly to resolve the issue,” NCS tweeted via its official X handle.
The pre-test is a key step in Customs’ 2025 recruitment drive for the Superintendent Cadre, but with technical hitches overshadowing the process, many applicants are now demanding answers — and a fair chance to sit the exam.
For now, thousands of anxious applicants are still refreshing the portal — and hoping their dream job isn’t lost to a website crash.
