Lagos resumes strict BRT lane enforcement on Eko, Odo Iya Alaro bridges - Daily Post Nigeria

The Lagos State Government has announced the resumption of enforcement on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lanes along Eko Bridge and Odo Iyalaro, effective Monday, October 6, 2025. This follows the completion of repair works on the Ifako/Ogudu Bridge, which had necessitated a temporary suspension of enforcement.

According to a statement released by the government, the suspension of BRT lane rules began on July 2, 2025, to ease traffic congestion during the bridge repairs. With the repairs now fully completed and the road reopened to motorists, all relevant agencies have been instructed to strictly monitor and enforce compliance with dedicated BRT lane regulations. The government emphasized that adherence to these rules is vital to ensure the efficiency of the BRT system and reduce travel time for commuters.

The statement reads: “On July 2nd, 2025, the Lagos State Government temporarily suspended BRT lane enforcement on Eko Bridge and Odo Iyalaro to ease traffic while the Ifako/Ogudu Bridge underwent repairs. With the successful completion of those repair works, the suspension is lifted, and enforcement will officially resume on Monday, October 6th, 2025.

Motorists are strongly advised to comply with this directive, as relevant agencies have been mandated to monitor and strictly enforce adherence to the dedicated BRT lanes.

This decision reflects the State Government’s continuous commitment to orderly traffic management, reduced travel time, and the efficient use of the BRT infrastructure.”

The resumption underscores the Lagos State Government’s commitment to maintaining order in traffic management and optimizing public transport infrastructure. Motorists have been urged to cooperate fully to avoid penalties and contribute to a smoother traffic flow across the affected routes.
