The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Gombe State Coordinator, Chinwe Nwachuku, has charged corps members to remain patriotic and uphold the ideals of national unity and service as they commence their one-year primary assignments across the state.

Nwachuku gave the charge on Tuesday during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Amada, Akko Local Government Area. She declared the three-week exercise closed and reminded corps members that their service year was a unique opportunity to make meaningful contributions to their host communities.

“You must be patriots. Demonstrate love and loyalty to our dear country, wherever you find yourselves. The NYSC scheme was founded on the principles of unity, discipline, and selfless service, values that every corps member must uphold,” she stated.

The state coordinator also encouraged corps members to take advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme by participating in post-camp training to build self-reliance and contribute to national development.

“Your service year is not just a mandatory national duty; it is an opportunity to touch lives and make a lasting impact,” she added.

Nwachuku commended camp officials, collaborating agencies, and security personnel for their dedication in ensuring a successful and hitch-free orientation exercise.

The event featured a valedictory parade and platoon presentations, showcasing the corps members’ discipline, creativity, and teamwork throughout the camp.

The NYSC programme, established under the administration of Yakubu Gowon after the Nigerian Civil War, aims to promote national unity, reconstruction, and reconciliation.
