The soldiers from the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army stopped a vehicle that was carrying a big amount of cannabis during their operations in the Agbede area of Kabba-Bunu Local Government, which is in Kogi State.

A statement shared on Tuesday by NigerianArmyInfo, signed by Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, the Acting Assistant Director for Army Public Relations in 12 Brigade, said the action was part of the ongoing work to break up drugsmuggling groups connected to banditry and other illegal activities in the state.

The statement said that on Monday, soldiers on patrol caught a red Toyota Camry with the registration number ABJ 325LA, which was moving illegal drugs from Ekiti State to Borno State.

It also mentioned that the driver, named Mr. Hamisu Sule, tried to escape by running away after he saw the troops at the checkpoint, which is set up now and then on the roads to stop people from using them as a way to move drugs.

The vehicle was later pursued and apprehended along the Apata–Lokoja Road in Lokoja Local Government Area.

“A total of 306 parcels of Cannabis Sativa weighing 276 kilograms were recovered

“Both the driver and the seized items have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kogi Command, for further action,” the statement read.

The Brigade reassured residents of its commitment to sustaining security operations in the state, saying, “The Nigerian Army remains fully committed to protecting lives and property, maintaining a robust presence across the state, and preventing criminals from operating with impunity.”
