Aisha Buhari meets stakeholders in the developmental world
The wife of the President Her Excellency Mrs Aisha Buhari has reiterated her commitment to put the rights of women and children first.
Mrs Buhari was speaking when she received stakeholders from various international organizations, like UN AIDS, STOP TB, SAVE THE CHILDREN, CLINTON HEALTH ACCESS INTERNATIONAL, and VOLUNTARY SERVICE OVERSEAS in her office.
She said the need to integrate governors wives so it could have a trickledown effect was extremely necessary
Described as a champion for childrens rights, she was asked to continue to advocate for their wellbeing.
Dr Erasmus Morah country Director U.N.AIDS had earlier requested for Mrs Buhari to advocate for the elimination of HIV in children, he stated that a ¼ of babies born with HIV are Nigerian.
While Professor Lovett Lawson from stop TB Partnership appealed to Mrs Buhari to promote advocacy on tuberculosis, country Director Ben foot from Save the children spoke on the need to keep as many girls in school as possible
Folu Lufadeju deputy country director Clinton Health Access initiative informed Mrs Buhari that they are partnering with eight centres of excellence to provide cancer screening centres as well as aid in the methods of safe deliveries in Katsina, Kano and Kaduna States
Lucia Balonwu who led the team and is the country director voluntary service overseas also stated the commitment of the sixty year old organization to giving assistance to Nigeria
The wife of the president whilst thanking them for their time and deeming it fit to pay her courtesy call said her door is open at all times and is very much willing to work towards the progress of women in the country
