The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers who allegedly developed romantic feelings for their victims during captivity.

According to police sources, the suspects had abducted two married women and reportedly sexually assaulted them while they were held hostage. Investigations revealed that, in a desperate bid to survive their ordeal, the victims pretended to reciprocate the suspects’ advances, leading to prolonged interactions and an exchange of phone numbers.

After their eventual release, the women reportedly maintained communication with the suspects, carefully cooperating with security operatives to facilitate their arrest.

On Tuesday, the victims allegedly arranged a meeting with the suspects under the pretext of a romantic encounter. Acting on prior intelligence, operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command laid an ambush and arrested the suspects at the agreed location.

The police confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The Command reiterated its commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state, urging residents to promptly report suspicious activities and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to enhance public safety.
