The Nigeria Police Service Commission (PSC) has cautioned cyber café operators and agents against extorting money from applicants seeking to register for police recruitment.

Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs at PSC Headquarters in Abuja, stated that the Commission has received reports of some cyber cafés and their agents charging illegal fees of up to Fifteen Thousand Naira (₦15,000) or more from prospective applicants for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The statement emphasized that claims suggesting part of these payments are forwarded to the Commission or other government authorities are false, and warned that anyone found engaging in such fraudulent activities would face decisive action.

The statement emphasized that applicants are not required to make any payment at any stage of the recruitment process, and strongly advised prospective candidates to access the official recruitment portal directly, without relying on third parties.
