LAGOS STATE ANNOUNCES BRIEF INTERRUPTION IN WATER SERVICES ACROSS IKEJA, MAGODO

Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) has announced a temporary disruption in water supply to parts of Lagos to carry out urgent repair and replacement work at the Adiyan I Water Treatment Plant.
In a statement on its website on Tuesday, LWC said the outage will affect areas including Akiode, Ikeja, Magodo, Oregun, Ketu, Ojota, Maryland, Aromire, Ogudu, Gbagada, Shomolu, Ojuelegba, Oyingbo, Ijora Olopa, Agege, and sections of Lagos Island.
The corporation explained that the repair is needed to fix a leak on the ND1600mm Adiyan raw water pipeline at the Akute Intake Station.
“It was observed that the persistent water discharge from the leakage point is saturating the surrounding soil, thereby compromising ground stability and posing safety risks to heavy construction equipment, including cranes and excavators, currently deployed in the affected area,” the statement said.
LWC noted that the ongoing leakage has also affected the construction of the Adiyan Phase II project. To ensure the safe and efficient completion of these works, the Adiyan I Water Treatment Plant will remain temporarily offline until repairs are finished.
The corporation assured residents that repair efforts are being fast-tracked and that water supply is expected to be restored as soon as possible.
