According to reports, Okorie was taken into custody at her Lagos residence on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, by operatives from the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre in Abuja.
Seun Oloketuyi, journalist and founder of the BON Awards, disclosed the development on Wednesday. He explained that Angela spent the night at Yaba Panti Police Station before being transported to Abuja early Wednesday morning.

“Angela Okorie was arrested yesterday at her Lagos residence by the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre, Abuja. She was put on a 6 a.m. flight to Abuja this morning to face court proceedings connected to a cybercrime matter involving Mercy Johnson.”
This incident follows Mercy Johnson’s recent warning that cyberbullying her and her family would not be tolerated in 2026, marking exactly a week since the announcement.
