PRESIDENT TINUBU MOURNS PASSING OF RENOWNED BUSINESS TYCOON OTUNBA ADEKUNLE OJORA

President Bola Tinubu has expressed condolences to the government and people of Lagos State over the death of Otunba Adekunle Ojora, a distinguished industrialist, business leader, and community stalwart, who passed away at the age of 93.
In a statement, the President commiserated with the immediate family, the Ojora and Adele royal families of Lagos, and the late business icon’s associates. He highlighted Otunba Ojora’s life as one marked by humility, perseverance, hard work, tenacity, and generosity—qualities that underpinned his success in both public service and private enterprise.
Otunba Ojora began his career as a journalist, training at Regent Polytechnic, London, and serving as an assistant editor at the BBC in the early 1950s. Upon returning to Nigeria, he joined the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation as a reporter before moving into the corporate world with the United African Company of Nigeria (UAC), where he rose to the position of Executive Director in 1962, becoming one of the youngest corporate executives of his era.

President Tinubu acknowledged Ojora’s substantial contributions to both the public and private sectors, particularly his advisory role to governments at national and subnational levels on institutional development and governance.
Describing his passing as a significant loss to the country, traditional institutions, and the business community, the President prayed for the repose of Otunba Ojora’s soul and comfort for his family.
Otunba Ojora’s legacy as a visionary entrepreneur, boardroom leader, and respected community figure is widely celebrated, leaving an indelible mark on Nigeria’s industrial and civic landscape.
