Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has openly criticized both himself and his teammates following their UEFA Champions League loss to Benfica on Wednesday.

Mbappe described Los Blancos as “too inconsistent” against Jose Mourinho’s side and admitted that the team deserved the defeat.

Benfica secured a 4-2 victory at home, with Mbappe scoring twice, though his efforts were not enough to prevent the Portuguese club from claiming the win.

“We deserved to lose. It was not a good performance. We are too inconsistent,” Mbappe said after the match, as reported by the media. “We can’t keep being this inconsistent. We can’t keep doing this day in, day out. It’s not what champions do.”

Mbappe and Real Madrid will now turn their attention to LaLiga, aiming for a comeback when they face Rayo Vallecano this weekend.
