The Kano State Fire Service has confirmed five separate fire incidents across the Kano metropolis within a 24-hour period, between January 27 and 28, 2026. The incidents were reported in a statement by the service’s Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, on Thursday.

The first outbreak occurred at about 4:17 a.m. on January 27 in Badawa, Nassarawa Local Government Area, while the second was reported at 6:30 p.m. the same day at Singar Market, opposite Bello Dandago. At Singar Market, a container vehicle carrying cartons of Indomie noodles was partially engulfed in flames. Quick response by firefighters limited the damage.

The fourth fire broke out along Independence Road, opposite Aminci Radio, also in Nassarawa LGA, affecting a steel turning processing plant. The fire damaged six turning machines, two fixed generators, two mobile generators, streetlight steel poles, solar panels, and pallet-cutting equipment, but was promptly brought under control.

The fifth incident occurred at Ja’en, opposite Ajawa, where a residential building measuring about 25 by 25 feet sustained minor damage.

No casualties were reported in any of the five fires.

The Kano State Fire Service has advised residents to exercise caution to prevent fire outbreaks, including switching off electrical appliances when not in use, avoiding illegal electrical connections, storing flammable materials safely, installing fire extinguishers, and promptly reporting incidents to the nearest fire station.
