The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects and recovered weapons following a violent clash between rival thug groups in Kabara and Magashi Quarters of Kano metropolis, an incident that left one person dead and two others injured.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, around 10:53 pm. According to a statement released on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the clash was allegedly led by Usaini Noni of Kabara Quarters and Umar Tautau of Magashi Quarters.

“The clash terrorised residents and resulted in the death of one person, Adam Badamasi, also known as ‘Choli’, and injuries to two others: Ahmed Basiru and Akilu Usman,” the statement said.

Police teams swiftly responded to the scene, which involved members of local vigilante groups, and cordoned off the area. Three suspects — Bazallahi Umar, 20; Abdullahi Umar, 20; and Abubakar Sani, 23 — were arrested. The injured were rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where Adam Badamasi was certified dead.

The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, directed that “a discreet investigation be conducted with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.”

The police reassured residents of their commitment to protecting lives and property and urged the public to provide timely information to security agencies.

In a separate incident, the command also arrested 25-year-old Ididiong James for allegedly assaulting his mother and unlawfully possessing a firearm in Kano.

This crackdown highlights ongoing efforts by the Kano State Police to tackle violent crime and maintain public safety in the metropolis.
