LAGOS TO HOST 11TH ACCESS BANK LAGOS CITY MARATHON

In a bid to make Lagos a Sports Hub, the Lagos State Government is ready to host the 11th edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon on 14th of February, 2026.
This year’s edition will witness the 42 km race on a new route starting from ORCA Mall on Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, through sections of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road.
The race aims to showcase Lagos as the heartbeat of road racing in Africa, giving awareness to the iconic Eko Atlantic City. Over 100,000 runners are expected to participate in the 42Km full marathon and the 10Km fun run.
The 42-kilometre marathon will commence at 6:30 a.m. and officially close at 12:00 p.m. The 10-kilometre race will begin at 9:30 a.m. and also close at 12:00 p.m.
Winners of the elite 42km race in the men’s and women’s categories will earn up to $50,000, with prizes extending to the eighth position.
Nigerian runners competing in the same category will vie for cash rewards ranging from ₦2 million for first place to ₦50,000 for lower finishers.
For the 10km race, the top finisher in both the male and female categories will receive ₦500,000, while prizes will be awarded down to the fifth position.
The consistent hosting of the Gold label race in the state of the aquatic splendour for over a decade showcased Lagos as a leading sports destination not only in Africa but across the world in creating an enviable platform for runners and leading in the conversation
of propagating active lifestyles.
