OYO POLICE DETAIN SEVEN SUSPECTS FOR ALLEGED MURDER AND CULT-RELATED CRIMES

The Oyo State Police Command has apprehended seven individuals in connection with murder, cult-related activities, and other criminal offenses across the state. Several exhibits were also recovered during the operations.

Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday that the arrests were made in multiple locations. One suspect was arrested in Tede town, Oke Ogun, for an alleged murder. Two others were detained in Jobele town over cult-related offenses, while another was arrested in Ilora town.

The statement read:

“Continuing its proactive approach to combating violent crime, the Command achieved a major breakthrough in Budo Panu, Tede, following a reported murder. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives arrested Yaru Saka in connection with the death of Amodu Saliu, recovering a locally fabricated single-barrel gun at the scene.

“In Jobele, the Command swiftly responded to a cult-related disturbance, rescuing Abraham Atunde, aged 35, who had sustained stab injuries. A blood-stained knife linked to the attack was recovered. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Sammod Bologun, 29, and Katie Suleiman, 24, who confessed to involvement in the violence and are assisting ongoing operations to apprehend other fleeing members.

“In Ilora, operatives arrested Isiaka Muhammed, 23, following an attack on night guard Adeniran Ramon, 50, who lost his left hand in the assault. The suspect was found in possession of a blood-stained cutlass and confessed to the crime.

“Additionally, operatives intercepted three suspects in a Toyota Liteace bus carrying suspected stolen electronics and household items. The suspects were identified as Rukayat Favour Umar, 17, and Mubarak Umar, 26, both of Eleyele area, Ibadan, and Jimoh Ibrahim, 49, of Oke-Ado area, Ibadan.”

The police command stated that these arrests reflect its intelligence-led operations and commitment to ensuring public safety across Oyo State.
