The Ogun State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has successfully repatriated a 13-year-old victim of sex trafficking from Burkina Faso.

The teenager, a tailoring apprentice, was reportedly trafficked last year by her 26-year-old employer, Omotola Adedibu, and subjected to daily sexual exploitation to repay a debt of 1.3 million CFA francs to a woman identified as Madam Sweet.

Speaking on Thursday during a sensitisation programme at Gateway Secondary School, Ita Iyalode, Abeokuta, the Ogun State NAPTIP Commander, Abosede Jimoh, confirmed that Adedibu has been arrested and will soon face court proceedings.

Jimoh highlighted the need for collective action to combat human trafficking in Ogun State, noting that children remain particularly vulnerable to exploitation.

The sensitisation programme aimed to educate students on the dangers of human trafficking and equip them with skills to identify, resist, and report such crimes. The initiative aligns with national efforts to engage schoolchildren in the fight against child trafficking, as emphasised by NAPTIP Director-General Binta Bello.
